FORT MYERS, Fla. Thousands are struggling to recover weeks after Irma made landfall in Florida. To better understand how people deal with the anxiety and stress of such a devastating storm, we talked with psychologist Dr. Bart Rossi.

When disaster strikes and up-turns people’s lives, many suffer similar psychological thought processes. Even for those not directly impacted by disaster [taking place in another state or city] can be psychologically affected. 911 is an example; devastating Hurricanes are another.

Dr. Rossi provides insights to understanding what people are thinking and feeling, and why, from a psychological perspective.
