Trump Reverses Russia Comments

Trump reverses Russia comments that he made at the U.S. – Russia summit. President Trump offered a clarification, saying that he used the word “would” when he should have said “wouldn’t. What are the implications? In a passage where Trump said he didn’t see any reason why Russia “would” interfere with our elections, the replaced word of “wouldn’t” doesn’t really change all that much. But does that resolve the pushback? Perhaps not, because in the press conference President Trump still said maintains that while his intelligence agencies told him it was Russia, President Putin told him it wasn’t,  and that he had ‘confidence’ in both parties. Moreover, Trump also said in that press conference that Dan Coates and others told him they ‘think’ Russia did it, when in fact the intelligence agencies have been clear and concise: they have no doubts that Russia hacked the D.N.C. and launched an influence campaign to help Trump win the 2016 election. election. At other points in the press conference, President Trump publically lambasted the F.B.I. again — referring to the Russia investigation as a ‘Witch-Hunt,’ and the free press as ‘Fake News.’It has a lot of Americans, as well as the Republicans in Congress, on edge. Majority leader Mitch McConnell was promoted to his own warning to Russia to stay clear of the 2018 elections.  What is really going on with Trump and Russia and what effect will it have?
