Trump nominations casue concern among the GOP

Trump Admin on Defense, Health, and Immigrants

Trump won the election, which has not been disputed; VP Kamala Harris and President Biden have both called to offer congratulations. President-Elect Trump has nominated cabinet positions at break-neck speed. What are the criteria?

TOP DISCUSSIONS

Host Frank Cipolla and co-host Dr. Bart Rossi, Ph.D., discuss the impact of Dr. Oz heading up Medicare and Robert Kennedy Jr. taking the reins of Health & Human Services. Dr. Oz has advocated for Medicare Advantage, a program that is not working for many citizens. Robert Kennedy Jr. is a long-time vaccine and medicine denier. He will oversee the FDA and N.I.H. (the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases). The looming question will be whether the two men will moderate their previous positions or maintain their extreme views.

For Defense, Trump has nominated Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host and Army veteran, as his secretary of defense. There have been concerns even among GOP Senators since day one, with many Trump allies doubting his viability. Still, the Trump team has doubled down on their support of him. Was he chosen for loyalty or competency? He doesn’t have the experience for the latter.

ROSSI RANT

Dr. Rossi delves into the immigration issue and Trump’s vow to deport all non-citizen “illegal” immigrants. However, while some with criminal records have slipped through, there are millions that, while non-legal citizens, do have Social Security numbers and are working. This means that they are paying the system. Should we deport them all? How do we fill those jobs?

FLORIDA BECOMING A POWER HUB

Many politicians from Florida are on Trump’s appointment list. Susie Wiles for chief of staff, is considered a moderate and bright; while Gaez, the provocateur (who has since dropped out), is a chaos agent: burn it all down has been his mantra. Marco Rubio is considered a competent choice for Secretary of State.

Check out the video of all the others from Florida that Trump has chosen. John Thune, the new majority leader, has cast doubt on some choices.

And be sure to check out the Sunshine or Showers section.

LET’S BE FRANK

What happens if they succeed in burning it all down?
